UNIFEI’s program includes the areas of Astrophysics, Condensed Matter, Field Theory, Gravitation and Cosmology.

It aims to train well-qualified professionals to seek, formulate and solve physics problems in several knowledge areas.

UNIFEI’s Master’s Degree Program in Physics allows its students to carry out cutting-edge research at the Institute of Physics, as well as at the National Laboratory of Astrophysics, within the areas of Astrophysics, Field Theory, Gravitation and Cosmology and Condensed Matter.

Research activities are complemented by formal courses, seminars and teaching opportunities.  The program has two main goals: to develop a wide and solid knowledge base in basic physics and astrophysics; and, through writing a Master’s dissertation, to improve research capacity in a more specialized area.  The skills acquired through this Program  – quantitative reasoning, advanced computational methods, among others – are also applicable to many other fields, whether academic or otherwise.
