UNIFEI’s Graduate Program in Industrial Engineering is a Methods, Process and Product Engineering course, which intends to plan, design, install and control productive systems aiming for integration and optimization of production factors.


The Graduate Program in Industrial Engineering offers Master’s and Doctoral degrees, focusing in industrial engineering and businesses administration. Its main goal to prepare engineers and scientists to make management decisions based in technical environment, as well as in the research frontier of modern technology and production management. Meanwhile, the Doctoral Degree Program also aims to prepare outstanding researchers in the fields of modeling, optimization and control.

The Program’s activities are organized in classes, seminars and advising for research and scientific thesis or dissertation.

The Graduate Program’s ultimate goal is to allow future Masters and Ph.Ds. to take immediate responsibility for planning, managing and operating production systems, besides laying the foundations for scientific research in the program’s areas.

Concentration Areas | Research Lines

Modeling, Optimization and Control: This line studies and applies, to products, processes and services, mathematical and statistical techniques specifically created for process monitoring, including monitoring, acquisition, analysis and signal processing. It also aims to study and apply modeling and optimization methods to processes, products and services portfolios.

Quality and Products: This line researches means of developing, improving and establishing models for quality management , with emphasis on the continuous improvement of standard management systems, as well as project management processes, product development and innovation, including both quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Production Systems and Logistics: This line focuses on computational modeling tools, aiming for excellence in productive systems, involving logistic aspects, quantitative and qualitative methods. Reference models for managing productive knowledge are also developed and applied.
