Between September 18 and 20, professors from the Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI) participated in the fourth edition of the Latin American Hydropower & Systems Meeting.
The event was held at the Escuela de Administración, Finanzas e Instituto Tecnológico (Eafit) and received the support of the Medellin Public Services Enterprise (EPM), at Colombia.
The event takes place every two years, promoted by the Latin American Working Group (LAWG), an integrant of Hydraulic Machines and Systems Committee of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR), wich the National Reference Center in Small Power plants (CERPCH) of UNIFEI is a member.
The encounter was attended by 100 participants, like professionals, researchers and students from the hydraulic machinery and systems area from Latin America, and had the objective to facilitate and incentive the exchange of knowledge and information about the theme.
At the event, Professor Ramiro, from Mechanical Engineering Institute (IEM), delivered the lecture “Design and analysis of fish friendly turbines” and presented the work “Methodologies of optimization in turbo-machines based on heuristic algorithms and metamodels construction”.
Accordingly to Professor Geraldo Lúcio, the event had a positive balance and was possible to see that the hydraulic machines theme is still in a good scientific and technological development moment in Latin America.
